This is an oldie but still makes me smile at the thought of what our children can pick up from others.
Sweet pea came home from school one day and asked when her daddy was going to get a girlfriend. In my naivety, I commented that I am daddy's girlfriend. Sweet Pea becomes frustrated and says, "No Mom, (insert child's name here) says that her mom and dad don't live together anymore because her dad has a girlfriend. So when is daddy getting a girlfriend?" Imagine me trying to explain why (insert child's name here) parent's are divorced and why her dad will not be getting a girlfriend. She seemed pleased with this and has never questioned it again.
