Welcome Bailey

Meet Bailey! Bailey (a Shih Tzu) is the newest addition to our family- an early birthday present for me. I have been wanting a dog for some time and when we found Bailey, my heart melted. I knew that he would be perfect for us. He has been absolutely the sweetest thing in the world today. He has been so snuggly and only cried a little when we bathed him (because I am a clean freak). We noticed that he looks a lot like Gizmo (for those who remember the Gremlins) when his ears flop up. He loves having his belly rubbed!

Sweet Pea's plaid wall

The first picture is step 2. Step 1 was painting the wall pink. Step 2 was the taping and that was a pain in the rear. The second picture is the almost final product. I want to get a wall sticker of a flower design with Sweet Pea's initial on it to put in the middle of the wall and of course, I put the outlet covers back on after the wall dried. I'm not sure that I like the plaid and the picture doesn't really show the true colors (it is a light pink and a purple). Sweet Pea likes it but I'm hoping it looks better when the furniture FINALLY gets here. What was supposed to take a week to get here has now taken three and Sweet Pea is still sleeping in my bed (with daddy on the couch). The other three walls are purple and I will post a picture when we get the furniture in.

Lillies

I do not have a green thumb...However, our lillies are flourishing. Just thought I would share some pictures.

Georgia- Sunday

Me with my cousin

One of my favorite things from Georgia- boiled peanuts

Sunday, We went out to lunch with my aunt, cousins, and their families. The meal was wonderful and so was the company. It was so good to get to visit with everyone and catch up on everyone's life. On the way home, we stopped for one of my favorite foods- boiled peanuts. All of the other pictures from the trip included the kids...you all know I don't post pictures of them. I will be sending the family pictures soon. I miss Georgia already and hope to see everyone again soon.

Georgia- Saturday

Piglet

We had the pleasure of visiting some of my family in Georgia this weekend. The trip was wonderful and the girls had a blast.

We stayed with my cousin, Stacey, who happens to be the funniest person on this planet! Sweet Pea has walked around all day today saying, "Guess what? Chicken Butt!" (Thanks Stacey!)

Saturday, we had the pleasure of meeting Piglet (the dog). The girls loved Piglet and are now begging even harder for us to get a dog. We had a cookout with Sean, Carla, and Conner. Conner has the best manners of any 12 year old boy ever. He is so cute and sweet. The girls loved their house and have asked repeatedly to go back so they can go swimming.

New Pig

Sweet Pea added to her Pig collection this weekend. We found this pig at the Sanrio store in Georgia. It SQUEAKS and she adores it!

One Room Down

We worked our tails off today to get room one mostly done. We painted (three coats for the pink) and moved everything into the room. What a chore!!! Luckily, we had some help with the painting, which made it go much faster. I was the only one trimming though. Cody also helped move the furniture, which I would never have been able to help with. I am such a weakling. Overall, the room looks great. I still have to order the bedding, polkadot wall stickers, a corner desk, and put the wall decorations up. The biggest part is done though. We started on Sweet Pea's room but we only have everything moved and the baseboard painted. The task seems overwhelming right now and my back aches. I sound so whiny. I have to give credit to Matt (and Cody) too...they changed the front door knob, doorbell, and put a little mailbox decoration up. Great job guys!

Update on head injury

Sweet Pea went back to the doctor today for a follow up and it is confirmed that she did/still does have a concussion. She also cannot resume regular activities until two weeks after her last headache, which she is still having. The swelling has gone down though. She is still really tired and sleeps more than normal, which worries me quite a bit but the doctor says to just continue watching her. She does have to have another CT scan in a few weeks to make sure that she is healing up all right so PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!

Sweet Pea's new furniture

Here is the furniture that we ordered for Sweet Pea. She has been begging for a bunk bed for forever so, I finally cracked. Check it out and let me know what you think.
The bed: http://www.discountfurniturewholesale.com/kidsfurniture/beds/bunk-bed-reflections.htm
The dresser:http://www.discountfurniturewholesale.com/kidsfurniture/dressers/7drawer-dresser.htm I did not get the mirror that is in the picture. I purchased the plain rectangle mirror for a cleaner, simpler look.
The chest of drawers: http://www.discountfurniturewholesale.com/kidsfurniture/chests/7-drawer-chest.htm
The nightstand: http://www.discountfurniturewholesale.com/kidsfurniture/nightstands/reflections-nightstand.htm

I have not found the bedding that I want for her room yet, although I am thinking that I would like to keep it the purplish color that it is now. Again, suggestions are welcome.

Pumpkin Pie's new room

As promised, I am working on updating everyone on some stuff around here. I have been spring cleaning like crazy and our task this week is redoing the girls rooms. Sweet Pea will be getting a new bedroom suite. In addition, the girls will be switching rooms and Pumpkin Pie has chosen pink and brown for her colors. Here is a link to the bedding set that I am planning on getting for her: http://www.beyond-bedding.com/pink-brown-polka-dot-kids-childrens-girl-twin-size-kids-bedding-set.html
I am also taking suggestions for wall decorations. You all know that I am not a very creative person so any suggestions are welcome; just keep in mind that you may be helping me out with the follow through. I am thinking of painting one wall the brown color that my room is in and then the other three walls will be painted in pink. I also found some brown and pink polka dot stickers that I could use on the walls to make it cutesie! Let me know what you think.

occipital fracture

I know that I haven't been on here in a few weeks and I do have numerous things that I need to post and more events coming up but I wanted to update everyone on how Sweet Pea is. For those who don't know...
Thursday evening, Sweet Pea was standing on the kitchen counter, getting stuff out of the cabinet to assist with cooking supper. Hindsight, yes it was not a good idea to let her stand up there but she does it all of the time. It will be stopped now though. Anyway, she stepped off backwards and busted her head pretty hard. We took her to the ER and an examination and CT scan and three hours later, we were informed that we would be staying all night. They observed Sweet Pea all night and let us go Friday afternoon. She has a fractured skull, to put it simply. The fall really done a number on her noggin and now I am a freaked mommy. It was the first hospital stay we have had with one of the kids. If you recall, Sweet Pea had staples in her head almost 1 1/2 years ago when she fell at school. Pumpkin Pie has had a broken finger. But nothing prepares you for this kind of trauma. I was terrified of the long term damage and I have observed her for the past two nights as well. She acts like she feels fine, other than a tender head and some minor headaches.
I realized today how thankful I am to be a mom and to be entrusted by God with my precious children. Having one of your children in a life threatening situation can really make you feel helpless. I feel absolutely guilty about her injury and have babied her for the past three days. Please continue to pray that no long term damage occurs. She has a follow up tomorrow so I will keep everyone posted.
